Ex Machina pairs American saxophonist Steve Lehman with ONJ artistic director Frédéric Maurin, and IRCAM, to integrate generative and interactive AI processes into a large jazz ensemble for the first time. Built around Dicy2, an AI system developed by researcher Jérôme Nika, the album combines real-time composition and improvisation from sixteen musicians with machine-generated material.
