Few bands can boast the musical footprint, the persistent urge for musical renewal, the cultural impact, and the impressive longevity that The Flaming Lips have built over more than 40 years. With the band's continued significance to the musical landscape, it is almost impossible to grasp that a full six years have already passed since their last studio album, the masterfully executed American Head from 2020.

Now, the psychedelic rock heroes are finally returning with a brand new album, The Teardrop Throbs.

With The Teardrop Throbs, the band emphatically reminds us why they have been essential listening for a large part of the last half-century. Lush arrangements go hand in hand with exquisite production and songwriting that has been honed to its full potential over decades.

Frontman Wayne Coyne moves effortlessly from the poignant and direct on "Every Teardrop Cried" to more melancholic and thoughtful tones on tracks like "The Trees Are Getting Their Leaves". He unfolds a musical expression with a rare breadth and richness of nuance that can take generations to develop – if it is even achieved at all.
