Phil Lynott | The Story Of My Life & Fatalistic Attitude
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Philip Lynott's death, his solo career is now being compiled for the first time in the 8-CD box set "The Story of My Life". The set includes the solo albums "Solo In Soho" and "The Philip Lynott Album", as well as collaborations with, among others, Gary Moore, Midge Ure and John Sykes. In addition, it features a total of 29 previously unreleased tracks, including the alternative album "Fatalistic Attitude". The latter is also being released separately on LP with the original artwork by Thin Lizzy's long-time artist and collaborator Jim Fitzpatrick, based on a photograph by Denis O'Regan.
Philip Lynott (1949-1986), the Irish singer and songwriter, is best known as the founder and frontman of Thin Lizzy. He was born in West Bromwich, England, but grew up in Dublin, where he became one of Ireland's most prominent black cultural figures and a significant voice not only in Irish music but in rock music worldwide.
While Thin Lizzy's many hits are known by millions, Lynott's solo releases and collaborations are less explored. Here, he continued to tell stories about the working class and create a wide range of characters inspired by his own life and Celtic culture.
The CD box set "The Story of My Life" has been compiled by Thin Lizzy expert Nick Sharp. The comprehensive booklet contains new liner notes by Mark Blake (Pink Floyd Shine On: The Definitive Oral History) as well as rare photographs and memorabilia. The collection has the full support of Lynott's estate and serves as a fitting tribute to his musical legacy 40 years after his death.
