No Excuse? Live! : A Materialist Breviary of Lucidity Michel Misrez

We all have an excuse. Often, it is true. A wound.

A childhood. A weariness. An injustice.

An age. A body. A system.

A past. But an excuse becomes an alibi when it ceases to explain and begins to govern. This book does not deny causes.

It only refuses to let them become sovereign. Between the brutality of “everything depends on you” and the surrender of “nothing depends on you,” it seeks a path: to understand what made us, and then to ask what we can still make of it. With Spinoza, Nietzsche, Camus, Freud, Bourdieu, La Rochefoucauld, Arendt, Epicurus, Lucretius, and Onfray, No Excuses? Live! offers a lucidity without an afterworld: to acknowledge the anvil, unmask the alibi, find the gesture, and pass on the spark.

Not to become pure. To live. Without guarantee.

Without easy consolation. But with enough dignity not to hand over the whole of life to what has wounded it.
