The White Accordion : A novel based on a true story Fredrik Möller

Pärnu, September 1944. The town is burning, a whole people is being torn between two great powers, and in the harbour lies a wooden boat far too small for the sea.

Friedrich is a musician. The war has put him in uniform but never made a soldier of him. He has played instead. He has played his way to food, to leave passes and in the end to his life. Now only the sea remains, one night in a small boat on course for a country he has never seen.

This is the story of that flight and of the life that came after. Of a brother on the wrong side of the sea, of the letters that had to go under another name, and of a white accordion in the right hands.

The White Accordion is a novel based on a true story, on Friedrich's own recordings and on the papers of the archives.
