Grace Harlowe with the American Army on the Rhine Jessie Graham Flower A M

Grace Harlowe With the American Army on the Rhine is the sixth and final entry in the hard-to-find Grace Harlowe Overseas series originally published in 1920. These books continue the adventures of the heroine of the High School Girls series and the College Girls series published from 1910 to 1917. In this entry, the armistice has been signed and the Great War has ended, but there are spies among the American Third Army troops marching to the Rhine. Grace Harlowe, once an ambulance driver on the Western Front, is now an army welfare worker and immediately runs afoul of her new supervisor. She also has her suspicions about the surrendering Hun, and soon finds herself on the wrong side of the Rhine in enemy territory. "Many war books fail to interest girl readers because they do not describe the Great War from a girl's point of view. But it is quite certain that every healthy girl reader will be enthused with the description of the Great War . . . These books give intimate descriptions of conditions found in France by the many young American girls and women who were there to serve their country by aiding the American fighting forces." --"War Books for Girls," Primary Education, June 1920.
