Steen "Papa" Rancher

The Pirates of Winchelsea Steen "Papa" Rancher

A terrifying confrontation with three bullies on the open water creates enemies for teens Kate, brother Jordan and cousins Austin and Cameron during a summer stay on British Columbia's Northwest Bay. A dangerous war of one-up vengeful mischief develops between the groups with vicious cat-and-mouse chases across the waters and among the small islands of Winchelsea Archipelago. The cousins cross moral lines with a daring scheme to gain payback but an unexpected storm adds new elements of danger. When they all find themselves stranded on the same uninhabited island with only one broken boat, do they have what it takes to survive this? Can survival take precedence over their feud? Who will still be standing when the storm clears? Equally at home in a boy or girl's hand, this exciting action-adventure and coming-of-age tale wraps tight around an anti-bullying theme. Dialogue-driven and fast paced. Extra 'white-space' is easy on the reluctant reader. A fun and easy read, told alternately from each character's point of view, the plot's twists and turns grabs and holds the young readers' attention all the way to the surprising and satisfying conclusion. Strong, thought-provoking moral lessons will linger.
